  • Design and construct custom glass scientific apparatus
  • Repair of existing equipment
  • Contract work for users outside of the Department or University (see "outside quote requests" for instructions)

Types of work requests

  1. When a piece of glass has been broken and you would like to have it repaired by the Glass Shop, please submit a work request through this form.
  2. Follow the instructions on the form. This entails cleaning the glassware before it is brought in for repair. Glassware submitted for repair must be cleaned and decontaminate of chemical, biological or other residue (e.g. grease) to the best of your ability. Use appropriate cleaning process for your specific chemistry. The last solution must be a thorough DI rinse.
  3. The broken glass must be brought to the Glass Facility in an appropriately sized puncture proof container such as a plastic tub. Broken glass that is to be repaired must not be stored or brought into the Glass Facility in a sharps container marked as biohazardous or other hazardous waste. A lid for the container is recommended as long as it does not create additional safety hazards for the carrier (e.g. breaking the glass further if the design of the glass does not fit fully into the container) and can be safely opened by Glass Facility staff (e.g. not a self-locking lid commonly found on hazardous sharps waste containers).
