Chemical education research (CER) refers to scholarship on factors that influence student success in chemistry courses.
At the University of Iowa, faculty and students in the CER division conduct research on a range of topics, including how students learn the concepts and practices of chemistry and how faculty incorporate the results of educational research into classroom practice. By using findings from chemical education research to improve classroom learning environments, we contribute towards creating undergraduate chemistry courses that are more inclusive and supportive of students’ learning.
