At the October 2025 ECS Meeting in Chicago, Illinois, Professor Johna Leddy met up with her extended academic family that branches out from her 2000 Ph.D. graduate Professor Shelley Minteer (her academic “child”) who is now at the Missouri University of Science and Technology (MUST) as a Professor and Director of the Kummer Institute Center for Resource Sustainability.  The photo below includes Minteer’s former postdocs (Leddy “grandchildren”) and their students (from left to right):  Professor Ariel Furst (MIT, Chemical Engineering), Professor David Hickey (Michigan State University, Engineering), and two of Hickey’s students (Leddy “great grandchildren”) Emmanuel Yankson and Nunzio Giorgio Carducci (Minteer and Leddy are at far right).  It is great to see how our academic trees continue to grow and propagate from their early beginnings at UIowa!
