Dr. Jordan Harshman is a new Associate Professor at the University of Iowa, specializing in discipline-based education research (DBER) within the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. His group’s primary focus is identifying how chemistry doctoral programs theoretically and practically develop students from the time they enter to the time they are awarded their doctorates in order to meet the overarching goals that the program has. The group also has research interests in characterizing instruction in undergraduate STEM education and improving DBER members’ capacity to perform quantitative research. Jordan is a runner, coder, gamer, type-1 diabetic, Minnesota sports fan, and daddy to two wonderfully redheaded children.
