Maalouf Promoted to Associate Professor of Instruction
Congratulations to Dr. Mona Maalouf on her promotion to Associate Professor of Instruction.
Mona received her Maitrise degree in Chemistry from the Lebanese University in Beirut, Lebanon, in 1990. She came to the University of Iowa as a Fulbright scholar in 2000. She subsequently joined the Ph.D. program in the Chemistry Department at Iowa and earned her Ph.D. degree while working in Dr. David Wiemer’s laboratory on the synthesis of organophosphorus compounds as potential substrates or inhibitors for different enzymes in the mevalonate pathway. Mona joined the teaching faculty at the University of Iowa from 2007-2012 during which she taught freshman chemistry and organic chemistry courses. From 2012 -2014, she was a visiting professor at the Lebanese American University, and American University of Science and Technology. In the fall of 2016, Mona returned to the University of Iowa as a Lecturer in the Department of chemistry and is currently teaching the laboratory component of the freshman chemistry course. Prior to that she was a visiting Assistant Professor at Denison University, in Granville, Ohio.
